Own a Piece of Trail History! https://eastcoasttrail.com/12343-2/ Tue, 04 Nov 2025 15:36:59 +0000 https://eastcoasttrail.com/?p=12343

The Trail Needs You Now

For 30 years, the East Coast Trail has given us stunning vistas, moments of peace, personal victories, and a source of provincial pride. It has generated millions in economic activity for 24 communities and earned recognition as the #1 coastline in the world.

Now it’s asking for our help.

We’re facing a $120,000 annual trail maintenance funding gap, and without maintenance funding trails deteriorate.

Broken boardwalks. Overgrown paths. Structures removed because we can’t afford repairs. This isn’t the experience that earned us global recognition—and we can’t let it continue.

We’re launching two new ways you can help: a Flyaway Raffle and a Silent Auction! Both open now!

100% of funds raised go directly to trail maintenance. Every dollar matters. Every participant makes a difference.

You’ve given us 30 years of support. We’re asking for your help once more. We need everyone.

It’s worth fighting for. Are you in?

Flyaway Fundraiser: Dream Destination

Paris. Vancouver. Iceland. London. Anywhere WestJet flies.

Round-trip for two. $1,000 cash in your pocket. The adventure you’ve been dreaming about.

Your ticket could make it happen.

Buy a ticket for our Flyaway Fundraiser Raffle—every dollar supports the trail you love and gives you a chance to win an incredible prize.

Win the trip of a lifetime. Help maintain the trail you love. It’s a win either way.

The kind of Christmas gift that becomes a story you tell forever.

Draw Date November 27

Silent Auction: Own a Piece of Trail History

A Limited Collection, Critical Maintenance: This is your one chance to own them.

They’ve been waiting for you. For three decades, they stood watch. Our original trailhead signs witnessed YOUR story. And now they can come home with you. After 30 years, we’ve replaced these weathered veterans. But we couldn’t just throw them away. These signs aren’t scrap wood—they’re pieces of trail history.

We’re auctioning these retired trailhead signs—and when they’re gone, they’re gone forever. Each one is unique. Each one weathered by years of coastal storms. Each one marked the spot where thousands of adventures began. And in case you’d love a “new” sign that was never put up, or has seen limited service, we have some of those as well.

How it Works:

Each sign is listed with a  ‘Starting Bid’ as well as a ‘Buy Now’ price that will allow you to bypass the bidding process.

There are over 100 signs that will be released for bidding in 4 time blocks: As one time block ends, the next will open right away.

  1. Open Now! Saturday, November 1 – closing Friday, November 7 at midnight

  2. Saturday, November 8 – closing Friday, November 14th at midnight

  3. Saturday, November 15 – closing Friday, November 21

  4. Saturday, November 22 – closing Thursday, November 27

Don’t Miss This. Bid on it or Buy it. Bring it home. Fund next years maintenance.

This Christmas, give them a piece of the place they love most.

Join us at Quidi Vidi Brewery on November 27th for an unforgettable evening where it all comes together,  to celebrate the East Coast Trail and do a little or a lot of Holiday shopping.

This is the night:

  • Flyaway Raffle Draw — Watch as we announce the winner of round-trip WestJet flights for two
  • Silent Auction Closes — Last chance to bid on vintage trailhead signs before bidding ends
  • Celebrate Together — Great beer, great people, great cause

Whether you’re watching the raffle draw with hope in your heart, making that final bid on your favorite trailhead sign, or simply raising a glass to the trail we all love—this is the night to be there.

All proceeds support trail maintenance. All are welcome. This is a night for the trail community.

Stay tuned for an RSVP link!

The East Coast Trail didn’t become the #1 coastline in the world by accident. It happened because people like you showed up—with your time, your passion, and your support.

Now we are asking you to show up again.

Whether you bid on a vintage sign, buy a raffle ticket, give a membership, or make a donation—you’re not just supporting trail maintenance. You’re protecting the place where proposals happened, where grief was processed, where your kids took their first real hike, where you found peace when everything else felt chaotic.

The $120,000 maintenance gap is real. But so is this community. We’ve built 336 kilometers of trail together. Surely we can maintain it together too.

Thank you for 30 years of memories. Thank you for helping us lay the foundation to tackle the next 30 years of the East Coast Trail.

The trail is waiting. Are you in?
