\n<\/span><\/a>Explanatory Notes<\/span>
\n<\/span>Proposed amendments to the By-Laws of the East Coast Trail Association<\/span>
\n<\/span>1. Clause 1 would create the positions of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. The Chairperson will chair meetings of the Board and the members. (This has been the practice of the Board for the past two years.)<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>2. Clause 2 would add the Chairperson to the Executive Committee.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>3. Clause 3 sets out how meetings of the Board are called.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>4. Clause 4 changes the title of the Section to recognize the position of Chairperson.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>5. Clause 5 sets out the role of the chairperson in preparing the Agenda.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>6. Clause 6 sets out what occurs in the absence or inability to act of the president or Chairperson.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>7. Clause 7 clarifies the role of the Board in electing the officers. The present section gives the authority to the members and the Board. The long-standing practice of the Association is that the Board elects the officers.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
